LEMONADE LEMONADE LIKE GRANDMA MADE!!!!!!!!!
If you’ve been to Scottsdale Stadium, the title of this article made you laugh just thinking about it echoing throughout the ballpark. I made another trip to Scottsdale this year to see my beloved Giants, and as I entered the park, I was looking around in anticipation for the best concessionaire a crossed the nation. I saw a lot of lemonade for sale, but not the guy I was looking for.
I found my spot in the lawn (an art at Scottsdale Stadium) and started laying out the blanket when I heard the words I had been thinking since I walked into the ballpark. “LEMONADE LEMONADE LIKE GRANDMA MADE!!!!!! YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT!!!!!” There he was, a man that made selling lemonade as much fun as possible.
He entices people by shaking the lemonade at them, and his upbeat and fun attitude makes it hard to say no to $5 lemonade. He is a staple in my memories of my Spring training trips, and I always buy a lemonade from him regardless of the fact that the lemonade is average and overpriced.
Seeing him again made me think of other concessionaires that have been a lot of fun a crossed the nation. One that came to mind was the Miller Lite guy at Camden Yards who consistently yelled, “Miller Lite!!! Lets get this party started!!!!!”
It is funny that someone who has no effect on the game itself can be remembered as one of the funniest or most memorable parts of a stadium. I couldn’t even keep a straight face for a picture as he yelled furiously at my girlfriend who was holding the camera……..LIKE GRANDMA MADE!!!!! YEAH BOY!!!!!!!!!
Wind makes Desert feel like the Bay
Sitting and watching the Giants in heavy winds is nothing new to Giants fans, we all lived through Candlestick Park. However, sitting in heavy winds in Scottsdale Stadium WAS a first.
Thursday night the Giants hosted the Cubs at Scottsdale Stadium in the middle of one of the worst wind storms in my recent memory. This is no exaggeration. The game was called in the seventh due to extreme weather conditions. At one point, huddled in the towels and sheet we had from our earlier sun bathing, my girlfriend and I were attacked by a six foot tree limb that had broken off of the tree behind us; and while that sounds bad, the light bruises are much better then the one the giant industrial trashcan would have left that rushed by us two minutes later.
Me, my girlfriend, and my good friend Pat were three of twelve people left in the giant outfield lawn area when the game was called. Just folding the sheet was an adventure that we will not soon forget in a night filled with wind, drunk Chicago fans, a broken thumb from riding the mechanical bull at Saddleback Ranch, and a Giants win.
Humm Baby, what a Spring outing!!!!!!!
